Eligibility Carrier Portal Authentication

To improve the batch and on-demand eligibility checks, we have added the ability to enter carrier portal authentication credentials in the PM. You will need to set up carrier portal credentials in the Carriers Master File.

  1. Go to Master Files | Carriers
  2. Select a Carrier.
  3. In the Portal User Name text box, enter the carrier’s portal user name.
    Note: If the username or password is incorrect, you will receive a message asking you to re-enter them.
  4. Enter the password is the Portal Password field, and confirm it.
  5. Click Save

If the above steps are not taken, you will receive an error when checking eligibility coming back from the payor.


Reporting Services Issue

7:50 PM MST: Issue Resolved.  There are not actions items necessary on your end, the reporting functionality should function as expected.

We are currently experiencing an issue with our reporting services,  we are working to get this functionality back up as quickly as possible.  If you would like to be notified when the issues are resolved please submit an online case.  This issue will impact any report that is generated within our PM & EHR application, including but not limited to System Reports, charge Slips, and End of Day Reports.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you.

How to turn on Windows Automatic Updates

It is important to unsure that automatic updates are enabled on every PC that you use.  Keeping Windows updated is a big part of keeping you computer safe and secure. It also ensure that you are running on the latest and greatest software, including Internet Explorer.  To enable automatic updates please follow the steps below:

Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

To turn on Automatic Updates yourself, follow these steps:

  1. Open Windows Update by swiping in from the right edge of the screen (or, if you’re using a mouse, by pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer up), then tapping or clicking Settings, tapping or clicking Change PC settings, and then tapping or clicking Update and recovery.
  2. Tap or click Choose how updates get installed.
  3. Under Important updates, select the option that you want.
  4. Under Recommended updates, select the Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates check box, and then click Apply.

Windows Vista and Windows 7

To turn on Automatic Updates yourself, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, type Windows update in the search box, and then click Windows Update in the Programs list.
  2. In the left pane, click Change settings.
  3. Select the option that you want.
  4. Under Recommended updates, select the Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates or Include recommended updates when downloading, installing, or notifying me about updates check box, and then click OK.

Practice Fusion EHR maintenance scheduled for December 3-4

Practice Fusion’s EHR is scheduled for planned, routine maintenance during the weekend of December 3-4. During this time all interfaces will be unavailable, causing both inbound and outbound interactions to return error messages.

Is there any action I need to take?
Yes, if your services are configured to connect to Practice Fusion’s EHR through an IP address whitelist. To avoid any service interruptions after the scheduled maintenance is complete, please update your infrastructure by adding the additional IP addresses listed below to your whitelist.

Is there any action I need to take if I connect through a DNS hostname?
No, this is the preferred method of connection. If you currently connect through a DNS hostname and are not filtering your traffic via an IP address whitelist, then there will be no impact to your services outside of the planned EHR downtime.

Disable a Pop-Up Blocker Within Safari Settings

When your blocker is turned on, there is no obvious alert that a pop-up has been blocked. So you’ll want to go into Safari’s settings to turn off the blocker.

  • 1. Open Safari.
  • 2. In the top left of the window, click Safari.
  • 3. Click Preferences in the drop-down menu.
  • 4. Click the Security tab found on the top row.
  • 5. Under Web content, uncheck Block pop-up windows.

ICD-10 Charge Slips, Where do I begin?

Charge Slip Configuration

 

If you use Online Charge Slips in the PM, AdvancedMD’s mobile app, EHR Charge Slips, or print Charge Slips from the PM, you will need to create ICD-10 charge slips using the Charge Slip Templates master file.ICD10-1

Note:  It is highly recommended to use an electronic method instead of printing as printed charge slips with ICD-10 codes will be much longer.

Note:  If you don’t post charges in the system, only use Quick Charge Entry or Transaction Entry, you do not need to update your Charge Slips.

Charge Slip Templates

Access:  Master Files | Templates | Charge Slip Templates

Create a new ICD-10 charge slip for each existing ICD-9 charge slip.  Please view the Online Charge Slips video for step-by-step instructions.  After updating your charge slips, be sure to see the sections below to also update your charge slip configuration.

Note:  For faster results use the copy feature to copy the procedure codes and then search for and select the needed ICD-10 codes.

Note:  We recommend including the name ‘ICD-10’ in the name of your new charge slips so you can easily differentiate between them and ICD-9 charge slips.

Appointment Types Master File

Access:  Master Files | Appointments | Appointment Types

To associate your new ICD-10 charge slips to your appointments, click the ellipsis in the Charge Slip field and select the appropriate ICD-10 charge slip and click Save.  Repeat this for each Appointment Type.  The indicated charge slip will be defaulted in Online Charge Slips (PM) and EHR Charge Slips and will also be used in the Standard Charge Slip report for patient’s scheduled with the appointment type.

Note:  This default can be changed whenever needed within the applicable charge entry screens and charge slip printing.

If no charge slip is selected for the Appointment Type, the charge slip listed in your Default Template system default will be used.  Please see below for more details.

Access:  Utilities | System Defaults | Appointments | Charge Slips | Default Template

When no charge slip template has been linked to an Appointment Type, the template listed in the Default Template will be used in Online Charge Slips, EHR Charge Slips, and charge slip printing.

Note:  This default can be changed whenever needed within the applicable charge entry screens and charge slip printing.
